Report a drop when you are not at the store

An off-site update is accepted as a tip with less influence. Being nearby and having a verified photo are separate checks.

What happens when I send it?

If you are not at the store, the report is submitted as a tip with less influence on the map. The app does not treat it as a verified in-store observation. No location fix, declined precise location, or an overly imprecise fix also leads to a tip.

The form says Sending as a tip when your location cannot support an in-store report. After acceptance, Sent as a tip confirms it was saved. This is a contribution with less map influence, not a failed submission.

You still choose the store explicitly. Moving the map or searching for that store does not make you physically nearby, and weak reception never gives permission to attach the report to a neighboring business.

If you’re actually standing in another store nearby, the form offers it: Looks like you’re at, followed by that store, with Report this store instead or Keep. Switching keeps what you entered and your photo; keeping sends the report to the store you chose, as a tip.

Add a photo to your report

If you sent a tip from away and then get to that store the same day, you can back it up with a photo. Open the report in Profile → My reports: while you’re at the store, it offers Add a photo to your report. Take the picture with the in-app camera and tap Send within the countdown, like any verification photo.

When the photo passes its checks and was taken at the store, your tip becomes an in-store report, and the photo is then checked against what you reported as usual. If the photo wasn’t taken at the store, or it doesn’t pass, it shows as not verified and the report stays a tip.

It’s available for a tip that doesn’t have a photo yet and is still pending, on the same day at that store, while its drop is still active. A withdrawn report, a report from an earlier day, or a drop that has ended can’t take one. Each report has one photo, and the app only shows the option when the report can take it.

How is an in-store report different?

A usable current location within the store’s reporting area supports an in-store report. The normal reporting distance is 250 meters from the selected store pin, with accuracy taken into account. You do not need a photo to submit that report.

A verified photo gives additional support only after its check succeeds. “Report sent” means the app received the report; it does not mean “photo verified” or that the whole drop is Confirmed.

Can a tip still help or earn reputation?

Yes. A tip attached to an active drop can help update stock, products, lines, or other observations. Tips have less influence and can earn reputation when independent evidence supports them. They are not an automatic point for pressing Send, and repeating the same observation does not become independent evidence.

Share what you know and make its timing clear. If you only know a likely recurring vendor day, use the store’s Restock schedule instead of claiming a current drop.

Where do other people see tips?

A tip appears with a Tip label in the Reports section of the drop it belongs to. There is no separate public list of unconfirmed stock tips. A tip that does not establish an active drop may not appear in Nearby drops or the store’s recent activity, although it remains in your own report history.

A weak standalone tip can become inactive immediately. Once its drop is over, a new report starts a separate drop rather than confirming the old tip. Do not assume that every accepted tip is waiting publicly for confirmation. Alerts depend on the resulting drop activity and each member’s alert settings.

Where can I see how mine counted?

Read How it counts after submission. It explains whether the accepted update is a tip, is supported by nearby location, has a checked photo, or still needs confirmation. On iPhone, open Profile and scroll to My reports to see later outcomes and score changes; on Android, open your report history from Profile.
